When AliExpress's 11.11 sale runs in Israel time, how the codes work, the one trap that turns a sale cart into a tax bill, and the picks worth a look while it's on.

AliExpress’s 11.11 sale runs from Saturday, October 31, at 11 pm to Wednesday, November 18, at 10:59 pm, Israel time. Its codes take a fixed amount off your whole order once it reaches a minimum, and every code works for the whole sale. The trap: a package over $75 pays 18% VAT on the whole amount, so a bigger code can cost you more than it saves. Last checked .

When is 11.11 in Israel time?

AliExpress’s sale opens on Saturday, October 31, at 11 pm and closes on Wednesday, November 18, at 10:59 pm, Israel time. 11.11 itself, Wednesday, November 11, falls in the middle.

How do the 11.11 codes work?

Each code takes a fixed number of dollars off your whole order once the order reaches a minimum. You use one per order, at checkout.

A few things that help:

  • Pick the code that fits your cart. The highest one you qualify for isn’t always the best, as the next section shows.
  • Codes on other sites may not work here. Some sites post codes that aren’t offered for Israel. The list above is the complete public set on AliExpress’s code page for Israel, and our Coupon Codes page keeps it current.
  • Seller coupons are separate. A store’s own coupon can apply on top of a platform code. The store’s checkout shows what applies.

The tax line trap

Israel charges import VAT per package once the goods are over $75, on the whole value, not just the part above the line (chapter 4). A sale code can push a cart across that line without you noticing.

Whether customs counts a platform code toward the $75 line isn’t settled, so we plan on the price before the code.

Here's how it plays out. Say your cart is $70, a little under $75. It qualifies for the $12-off code (orders over $65) and stays under the line, so no import VAT. Now add enough to reach the $16-off code (orders over $85). You save $4 more, but the package is over $75, and 18% VAT on the whole package, about $15 on $85, is more than the extra code saves.

Three more rules that matter on a sale day, from the Israel Tax Authority’s guide to personal importation:

  • Orders from the same seller within 72 hours count as one. Customs adds them together, so splitting a cart into two orders on the same day doesn’t keep them separate (chapter 4; Personal Import Order, 2019, section 3).
  • Shipping charged separately isn’t counted for the test. Once the goods are over the line, tax is worked out on goods plus shipping and insurance (chapter 5).
  • The dollar rate on arrival day is the one that counts. A cart just under the line can tip over if the dollar moves (chapter 3).

What’s actually worth it in a sale?

  • Things you already planned to buy. A code that takes a few dollars off something you needed is a real saving. A code that gets you to buy filler isn’t.
  • Carts that stay under $75 per package, or larger orders that are clearly worth the VAT.
  • Sellers with a solid record. A sale price doesn’t make a weak seller a good one. Our picks show each seller’s feedback.
  • A price you saw before the sale. A crossed-out “was” price is the seller’s own claim. Screenshot what you want now, with the date, and compare.

Worth skipping: anything you add only to reach a code, and anything where the total with VAT is no better than a local store’s price. For bigger items, compare with a local store that includes a warranty.

Does the Elite club stack with 11.11?
